I had a QTC appointment yesterday and I have got to say, the doctors and staff were very thorough.
I heard alot of horror stories here about taking 5 min, not asking questions, and off you went...but I am here in San Antonio and the QTC doctors really took their time and listened to your concerns...
I was so relieved it turned out this way because I was shaking in my boots prior to going in...
I had hearing, right shoulder, knees, lower back and ptsd claims all in one day, x rays and all. The ptsd in itself took an hour and half.
So I guess I will get to my question, how long roughly from the time of your QTC exam till you hear/see anything on ebenefits about what rating they gave me?
thanks in advance...

First let me say that QTC does not give you a rate. They will provide medical information to the rater and the rater will use this information to establish a rate based upon the law (CFR).
QTC will do your exam then they will do the write up. It will then be sent to QTC main office for review. They will check it to make sure everything the VA asked for was done. They will then send it off to the VA Regional Office that requested the exam. So you may be looking at a week or two for the Regional Office to get it.
I have NO guess as to when your Regional Office will get around to sending your claim to a rater and when e-benefits will change your status to pending decision.

Thanks Daman, I totally mis-wrote that part about the QTC rating me. I read enough on here to know raters make the decision based upon the information the QTC wrote...so my bad there...
The QTC examiners stated that everything is sent the day we are examined through a online streamline system straight to the VA, so hopefully that two weeks will be cut down to a week, but I won't hold my breath...
thanks again,

Bear in mind that the Rater has discretionary authority to also request ACE exams (paper review exams) over and above VA, QTC and/VES C&P exams. What triggers additional ACE exams? I am not sure.

ybasteve, I am in San Antonio as well w/ Houston VARO, and recently had my QTC exams on August 9th at their main San Antonio office. In the past, I have seen one of their contracted doctors that is in their network. However, this last time around, through QTC, was pretty quick. They submitted the reports from the exams to the VA via fax on August 13th. Of course, this rapid response can be a fluke. However, I was told that the report is due back to the VA at most 30 days after the exam. And then it can sit another 3 weeks at the VA before it is even marked as received. The amount of time it takes will vary based on number of exams, number of claims, complexity of claims, etc. The only way the reports will show up in eBenefits is if someone goes in and indicates they are received.
FYI - My current claim timeline:
Nov. 25, 2011 - Opened Claim and sat in Under Review
Dec. 8, 2011 - VA received my supporting documents via US mail
March 7, 2013 - VA submitted for a C&P exam through QTC
March 22, 2013 - Had QTC C&P exam
May 20, 2013 - Moved to Gathering of Evidence
May 23, 2013 - Sent supporting documents again via eBenefits Upload and US mail
June 18, 2013 - Exam report received (according to eBenefits)
June 20, 2013 - Moved to Preparing for Decision
July 26, 2013 - Moved back to Gathering of Evidence; VA submitted for another C&P exam through QTC; Development Letter sent by VA
July 30, 2013 - Contacted by QTC about scheduled appointment
Aug. 2, 2013 - Fedex Package with QTC appointment information
Aug. 9, 2013 - QTC appointment
Aug. 23, 2013 - Sent more supporting documents via eBenefits Upload
Aug. 26, 2013 - Confirmed through Peggy (800 number) that both exam report and document upload were received.
If I upload any documents, I always call to verify they have them, and they will usually start to read back the first few lines. For some reason, upload is not 100% reliable, and it does not show up in eBenefits under items received or unsolicited items.

I had my QTC Exams for all my claims except two issues (MH/Eating Disorder/Anxiety) within two months of opening my claim (May 2013) - (QTC Exams July 2013) - I was told that they (QTC doctors) have 72 hours to fill out the p/w and submit it back to the Corporate QTC office. My DAV rep told me that as of 08/10/2013 the RO had my QTC exams but as everyone has stated here there are so many factors regarding the process of your claims....
I would not hold my breath on it being expedited unless you did a "fully developed claim"???? If that is possible with a QTC Exam???
Anyways just sit tight and btw Ebennies I have come to learn is not the best source - if you have a rep like a DAV or Legion or someone helping you I would contact that person....
Take care!

My understanding is the QTC exams have to be sent "up" to the QTC quality review/admin people within 72 hours. They are "supposed to" be back to the VA shortly after that. But who knows??!! I would imagine that a full exam would take a lot longer.
I had a "single contention" exam Aug. 5 and 7, results not back yet, and my VSO says give them another week - which would put it at about a month later.
Meanwhile.....claim will be 2 years old in 17 more days! Not exactly chilling the champagne for that anniversary celebration. Hoping the eagle poops soon - I'm running out of ways to pay the growing bills, and am thankful (??!!??) that I *had* good credit with some pretty high limits, that I've almost reached, robbing Peter to pay Paul. I spend as much time at various doctors' offices as I do trying to work. Grrrr. Oh, and then I hurt my dang foot doing physical therapy for my knees. Aaaaarrrgggghhhh.

ok thanks IrishKing...I will keep that in mind...what is ACE exam? Is that like a QTC?
Sep 05, 2013#11
Thanks Steph...I initially had a VA rep, but when I asked for his number or email he said they don't have one and that everything I have to do is in person...ugh!
So since the day I turned in my paperwork to him, I have not contacted him due to my work schedule and things seem to be moving along as normal as this VA process can be moved. Another reason I am keeping hope that it may be expedited (6 months or less) is that it took my sister 6 months from the time she had her exam to be final...though she had a lot less claims than me...she was rated at 30%...

My claim would is currently 1 year 9 months old so far...so glad I finally got my QTC exam over with...I finally see the light, I hope! ;-)
Well, I will wait and see what comes next....
I wish I can see my QTC exam results...I sent in a my Release of Information ROI for In person Authorization on My HealthVet website. I am assuming I would be able to see my QTC exam results there?
I am assuming by pressing the so called the "VA blue button" I should be able to see the QTC exam results once VA input them and after they received my ROI...correct?
thanks...

It took my original claim over 6 years. Now after being permenent ands total for more than 5 years I had to go back and get re-evaluated. Exam in Ga. took no more than one hour for everything. That was over 2 months ago and still waiting to see what they say.
