ts-469 Pro largest disc drive
- Quote
Postby chrischambers »
I have look at the compatibility list and at the moment it states that the largest HD for this module is 6TB, but I would like to know if anyone has tried any larger hard drivers, as at the moment I have 12TB in my NAS but I have filled it up and I am looking at purchasing 4 X 12TB for the NAS.
If no one has then I will drop a email to the QNAP Support and ask them the question
Regards
Chris

depending on what firmware these drives were configured with...you might need to start the nas from scratch to support volumes with more than 16TB
otherwise 12TB drives should work

if I understand you: I have a 12TB in total, but only 10.89 TB storage due to the RAID.
I have a 90% threshold, on a think volume.
at the current progress I would say that I would fill my NAS storage within 6 months.

if it is already a thick volume, there shouldn't be a limitation of 16TB. At that point your volume is only limited by the chosen inode size ..

thanks for the information, so I am guest that as I have a TS-460 Pro and it only has 4 bays and I am looking at purchasing 10TB x 4 then the max storage I can get is 30TB
but I am confused - how can I find out about this inode size ? and I have looked within my storage manager and the volume settings and I can't find any reference to this.

when you manage the volume, you click on the blue "i"
inode_size.JPG
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

interesting
looking at it:
Bytes per inode: 32K
Max Volume size: 127.99 TB
Maximum number of files/folders 361136128
cool: so I will go and buy the 10TBs HD's and start to swap out the hard drivers
thanks dolbyman

TS-469L upgraded from four 4TB drives to four 16TB drives (EXOS) and working just fine. DataVol1 is 42.81 TB.
